Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In another bowl, melt the butter and let it cool slightly before whisking in the eggs and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Fold in nuts if using.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
  6. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
