  • 14 oz firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu by wrapping it in paper towels and placing something heavy on top for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  3. Coat the tofu cubes evenly with cornstarch in a large bowl.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the tofu cubes in batches until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together orange juice, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and sesame oil until combined.
  6. Once the tofu is crispy, pour the sauce over it in the skillet and cook for an additional few minutes until thickened.
