  • 23 tablespoons plain yogurt with live cultures
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and tools: saucepan, thermometer, jars for storage, and whisk.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, pour in the whole milk and heat until it reaches 180°F (82°C), stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool to approximately 110°F (43°C).
  4. Whisk in the plain yogurt starter and heavy cream (if using). Add sugar if desired.
  5. Pour the mixture into clean jars and cover with lids or cheesecloth. Place in a warm spot for fermentation (6-12 hours).
  6. Once fermented, refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.
