  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 gallon cold water (for brining)
  • ½ cup brown sugar (for brining)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brine: In a large pot, combine cold water, brown sugar, and salt until dissolved. Cool completely.
  2. Brine the turkey: Submerge the turkey in the cooled brine for at least 12 hours (overnight if desired).
  3. Preheat smoker: Set your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
  4. Make the glaze: Mix equal parts maple syrup and BBQ sauce in a bowl.
  5. Smoke the turkey: Remove from brine, pat dry, season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Smoke for about 30 minutes per pound or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Apply glaze: Brush on the maple BBQ glaze during the last hour of smoking every 15 minutes.
