  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time; mix in peppermint extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and half of the crushed candy canes.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them two inches apart. Top with remaining crushed candy canes.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
