  • 28 ounces canned whole tomatoes (preferably San Marzano)
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and mince the garlic. Tear the basil into smaller pieces.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic until golden brown (about 1 minute).
  3. Add canned tomatoes (with juice), salt, pepper, and dried oregano. Crush tomatoes with a spoon and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Boil salted water in a pot; add gnocchi and cook until they float (2-3 minutes).
  5. Transfer gnocchi to the sauce using a slotted spoon. Toss gently to coat.
