  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 hot dogs (beef or turkey)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Insert wooden skewers into each hot dog.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together egg and milk. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Dip each hot dog in the batter until fully coated; let excess drip off before frying.
  5. Fry corn dogs for 3-5 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
