  • 2 lbs potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold), thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Stir in heavy cream and simmer for five minutes.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish followed by half of the diced ham and half of each cheese. Pour half of the cream sauce over layers. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  4. Mix panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle on top.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; uncover during the last ten minutes to brown the topping.
