These warm, golden-brown pretzels, adorned with vibrant green toppings, offer a delightful blend of chewy texture and rich flavor. Whether you’re hosting a party or enjoying a cozy night in, these pretzels will bring cheer to your festivities and leave everyone wanting more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (around 110°F)
  • ⅓ cup baking soda
  • 2 tsp coarse sea salt (plus extra for topping)
  • 12 drops green food coloring
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add flour and mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into eight pieces. Roll each piece into long ropes and shape into pretzels.
  5. In a pot, boil four cups of water; carefully add baking soda. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds before transferring to parchment-lined baking sheets.
  6. Brush each pretzel with an egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for about 12 minutes until golden brown.
