Ingredients

For the Tuna Salad
  • 2 cans tuna drained, preferably in water
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise use light or regular based on preference
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard adds a tangy flavor
  • 1 cup celery finely chopped for crunch
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely diced for flavor
  • 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish adds sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice freshly squeezed for brightness
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped, optional for garnish

Method

Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Open the cans of tuna and drain the liquid. Use a fork to flake the tuna into small pieces in a mixing bowl.
  2. Finely chop the celery and red onion on a chopping board. This will add texture and flavor to the salad.
  3. Measure out the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, sweet pickle relish, and lemon juice.
Mix the Salad
  1. In the mixing bowl with the flaked tuna, add the chopped celery, red onion, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, sweet pickle relish, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Using a fork, gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to over-mix, as you want to maintain some texture.
Taste and Adjust
  1. Taste the tuna salad and adjust the seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or lemon juice as needed.
Serve
  1. Spoon the tuna salad onto a plate or into a bowl. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
  2. Serve the tuna salad on a bed of lettuce, in a sandwich, or in a wrap.
